What is NuEtch Simulated Glass Etching?

NuEtch Simulated Glass Etching is not a decal or sticker. It uses the “Etchlike” process, a unique catalytic polymer liquid that is rolled on with a special roller over a custom designed template. The application dries to the touch in about one hour and adheres to the glass, curing to a hard, durable finish.

Does it look and feel like real etching?

Yes. It has the appropriate frosted look and feel. When looked at from an angle, you can even see the "depth shadow" present in real etched glass. Because this process is not a sticker or a decal, we have had to prove to many people who do permanent etching that our product can be removed from the glass. They are totally amazed!

Where is this NuEtch process typically used?

NuEtch Simulated Glass Etching may be used anywhere on smooth glass or mirrors.

    • Glass Doors and Windows
    • Glass Partitions and Walls
    • Mirrors and Mirrored Walls
    • Store Fronts and Lobbies
    • Transoms and Entrance Ways
    • Glass Cabinet and Pantry Doors
    • Glass or Mirrored Furniture
    • Shower Doors

How is the NuEtch design applied?

Etchlike” is applied with a special roller over a prepared custom template. The work is done on site, without the slightest danger to the finest floor coverings, furniture or adjacent decor.

How are the NuEtch designs selected?

A NuEtch design consultant will meet with a client to discuss design options, review our extensive catalog of existing designs, and evaluate a client’s existing décor or examples from photos or magazines. In many cases a sketch can be made on the premises. NuEtch specializes in custom designs, and will create the look that is perfect for the desired area.

How are the NuEtch designs prepared?

Many designs are taken from our extensive Catalog of Designs. Custom designs taken from wallpaper, photographs, camera-ready artwork and logos are expertly created by our Art Department. All designs are sized to your specific glass area. Only your imagination restricts the range of creative designs that are possible. Our in-house art department specializes in creating custom designs to fit any style desired.

How long does it take to install a NuEtch design?

Installation time depends on the design, its size and location. Some simple designs may be completed within an hour or two. More complex, large designs may take up to 6 hours. There will be a slight lacquer odor in the installation area, but it is not harmful to you, your children or pets. Once the job is completed, the odor will disappear within a few minutes.

How do I care for my design?

Your NuEtch design will be dry to the touch within the hour. But it does take three days for the design to "cure." During this time, you should not clean your glass. If your NuEtch design is in a bath area prone to large amounts of condensation on the glass while showering, it is advisable to shower in another bathroom for the 3 days it takes to fully cure. Once the design is cured, care and maintenance is easy. Any commercial glass cleaner and paper towels may be used.

Which side of glass should have the NuEtch design?

If there is a side of the glass that is less likely to be touched by others, it is recommended that the NuEtch design be on that surface. Surface reflection can wash out the un-frosted surface. The frosted areas of the design block the surface reflection, which makes the design easier to view. A NuEtch design can be enhanced or highlighted with proper lighting such as spotlights.

Positive or Negative etch design?

In most cases, Logo's or graphics with small, fine or intricate detail on clear glass will be greatly enhanced when the background is frosted and the detail left clear. This is commonly referred to as a negative etch.

Placement and position?

The industry standard is, eye level above the finished floor, approximately 5'2" to 5'4" aff. In many cases, the center of a logo etched on a vertical surface should be raised slightly above center so as to not appear too low.
